Since 1946 (revisited).
Is a song my brother Tim and I wrote in 2013. While reminiscing about a favorite family vacation spot in Vermont.
A place that our Uncle Teddy and Aunt Anne shared with their families.
The first visit was in the summer of 1946. It Included my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, our mom and her brother, sister and cousins.
Every year since, some part of the family has made it back for summer vacation. Swimming, fishing, boating, water skiing, campfires and just being able to get away from everyday life is what it’s all about !!
It is a freedom that is seldom found.
Many thanks to Dan Drilling at “Panda Productions of Nashville” and his awesome team for the great music that really helps take me back to those great memories !!
So have a Scotch with an old memory, or maybe just a beer !! Let’s get away…..for a little while.
I hope you enjoy the listen, wherever it takes you.

Lyrics
I wish I could go back to the lake
Breathe in the view with my eyes and ears
Have a scotch with an old memory
Or maybe just a beer
So many summers of memories
Take me back everyday
They never leave much room
For what happenin’ any other day
Since 1946
We still visit ‘cause we need a fix
Every summer off of route 22
We get away for a little while
Fishing with Grandpa, or swimming from the dock
Such great days, everyone off the clock
As the generations have moved on
The new ones start and watch from the fray
The crazy things we all talked about
Before long they can’t forget the day
Since 1946
We still visit ‘cause we need a fix
Every summer off of route 22
We get away for a little while
It’s almost summer,
And I can’t wait
In 300 miles
We’ll be sitting at the lake
Passing down the memories,
It seems so easy to do
Just show up, and wet your feet
And forget about what makes you blue
My brother asked me to write this
I’m sure glad he bent my ear
I think I’ll have a scotch with an old memory
Or maybe just a beer
Since 1946
We still visit cause we need a fix
Every summer off of route 22
We get away for a little while
For a little while
I wish I could go back to the lake
For a little while…
